The Plastics Industry Association has appointed Tony Radoszewski as its next CEO, effective Sept. 16. He will succeed Bill Carteaux, who died in December due to complications from acute myeloid leukemia.

Radoszewski currently is CEO of the Plastics Pipe Institute, an Irving, Texas-based association representing all segments of the plastics piping industry. Before joining the group in 2006, he was president of Wentworth Group International, a business-to-business firm specializing in market development for industrial clients. He previously was director of marketing and business development for plastic pipe manufacturer Advanced Drainage Systems and sales director for Phillips Sumika Polypropylene Co.

Radoszewski will take over an organization that Carteaux led for 15 years before his death. The new CEO also joins at a time when plastics pollution is becoming an increasingly heated political topic, with soda makers Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. recently announcing they would end their memberships in the Plastics Industry Association amid pressure from environmental groups.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to lead such an important and respected organization," Radoszewski said in a statement. "While I have decades of experience in the plastics industry, I know as I step in to lead the great PLASTICS organization that I have much to learn and I am dedicated to listening to members as a top priority and understanding the opportunities and challenges we have."

Radoszewski has a bachelor's degree in chemistry from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas.

The Plastics Industry Association reported $40 million in revenue in 2017, according to the most recent tax forms available. However, the association's annual revenue receives a recurring bump because of profits from its trade show, NPE, which is held every three years. The group reported $11 million in revenue in 2016.
